(August 24, 2011) – True to the saying “misery loves company,” an anti-social networking website, Uncheerful.com, was launched recently. This, amid studies showing decline in Facebook usage. Said to be a spoof on the more popular social networking websites, Uncheerful aims to be the new home of people who want to post gripes, rants and frustrations but still keep their sense of humor intact.

“You can gripe about stuff that sucks” is the clarion call of Uncheerful.

“You don’t make friends in Uncheerful.com, you make foes. You don’t post comments, you post gripes,” Trevor, the creator of the website, said.

He made it clear, however, that the “anti-social network” is intended to “be funny.”

“While it’s true that you can post rants and frustrations, we actually do not intend that the users be so negative and just complain. Instead, consider Uncheerful.com as the avenue where people can release that negativity. After all, there really are times when you just need to be anti-social sometimes. That can be healthy, too,” he explained.

Interestingly, the entry of Uncheerful.com comes as a study reportedly conducted by Mashable shows decline in Facebook usage. Some of the activities on Facebook that have suffered a decline from 2009 to 2011 reportedly include the sending of messages to friends (down 7.4 percent globally), instant messaging, installing of application and searching for new contacts.

“Perhaps the decline means that people have now become warier of how instant and impersonable the more popular social networking websites have made our lives. Perhaps this anti-social networking website can be the wake-up call people need,” Trevor emphasized.
