Gibraltar – February 19, 2008 – A newly established Gibraltar-based campaign group, dubbed as No to Plastic Bags (NO2PB), is aiming to make Gibraltar a plastic bag-free town and is even launching a campaign to make the town the first ever plastic bag-free city within the Iberian Peninsula.

NO2PB is comprised of members of the Gibraltar community who are concerned with various environmental issues including the town’s seemingly endless dependency on plastic bags. Inspired by Modbury, a town not that different in size compared to Gibraltar that became the first plastic bag-free town in Europe, NO2PB highlighted the government’s pivotal action in kick-starting environmental and ecologically-conscious projects as can be observed in several counties and regions within Ireland, France, United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and most recently China.

The main reasons behind the group’s inception include the following:

-	Plastic bags are generally non-recyclable and those that are tend to be either incinerated or buried within landfills;
-	Plastic bags are hardy and resilient and whilst this make them the ideal transport medium for our shopping it is also the reason for their recalcitrance;
-	Plastic bags take hundreds of years to degrade naturally in the environment, making them an eyesore as well as endangering our fauna that on occasions mistake plastic bags for food;
-	Plastic bags also tend to be incinerated with the rest of our waste and therefore contribute to the emission of toxic gases into the atmosphere

To beef up their campaign, NO2PB has launched an online drive via the popular social networking website Facebook. Dubbed as the “Say No to Plastic and Yes to Reusable Bags,” the ongoing campaign aims to reach out to at least 30,000 people connected to Gibraltar. NO2PB hopes to get at least 50 percent of the said number to sign the petition found at http://www.facebook.com/pages/No2PlasticBags/10374416156

NO2PB’s campaign banners a pledge to “Bring Your Own Bag” wherein consumers are encouraged to bring reusable bags to the shop or supermarket.

NO2PB says that by doing this, consumers are doing their share in saving wildlife (as hundreds of thousands of marine creatures die every year from eating plastic bags mistaken for food), saving trees (thousands of trees are needed to make all of the paper bags used in Gibraltar annually), reducing waste (an estimated 4 billion plastic bags end up as litter globally each year) and reducing dependency on oil (thousands of barrels of oil are required to make millions of plastic shopping bags used yearly in Gibraltar alone) NO2PB’s campaign also asserts that if every Gibraltar consumer brought their own reusable bags when shopping, tens of tonnes of harmful carbon dioxide will be reduced.

NO2PB has announced that their group is in the process of organising a press conference where they hope to address any questions that the public may have.

(United Kingdom, June 24, 2008) – People all want to save money, especially during these trying times. With no less than Bank of England Governor Mervyn King saying that the UK economy is facing its “most difficult challenge in decades,” getting the most out of discounts from our online purchases would definitely do a lot of difference, and help all of us heave a huge a sigh of relief. Good thing there are websites like Promotional Codes (www.promotionalcodes.org.uk) that aim to provide an online, free and easy-to-use platform for people to find free and valid promotional codes for United Kingdom (UK) websites. The website is home to numerous discount codes and coupons and these can help people save hundreds, if not thousands, of Euros in their purchases.

“What we envision is an online, one-stop-shop for the hottest deals in town,” Sean Lewis of promotionalcodes.org.uk said.

Putting together the latest hot deals from various retailers all over the United Kingdom, promotionalcodes.org.uk offers the latest and valid promotional, discount, and voucher codes for free.

“We constantly scan and monitor the internet for ideas and offers, maximising our contacts in the industry to bring the best offers to our visitors,” Lewis, manager of Promotional Codes, said.

With numerous similar websites in the market offering almost the same set of services, promotionalcodes.org.uk goes the extra mile by including difficult-to-find deals in its list.

“That’s our expertise. That’s what sets us apart from the rest,” Lewis proudly added.

Promotionalcodes.org.uk also has a Money Saving Blog as well as a news reader that displays the latest frugal news from the world’s best blogs, providing its loyal visitors more chances to save lots of money from their online purchases.

“In a highly competitive and constantly changing market, letting our guards down is a big no-no. We make sure that our visitors will always be kept abreast of the latest goings-on, especially in the discount world,” he said said.

Using promotionalcodes.org.uk is easy. Simply enter a simple code in the box that says “enter promotional code” found in a box on the checkout of retailers’ website and visitors will instantly receive a range of special offers like free delivery, money off, or a percentage of their purchase.

“Visitors can also share their codes with us. We are doing our best to find the latest discount codes but if you find money off codes that are not in our list, please do let us know. All money off voucher codes, promotion codes and discount voucher codes are welcome in promotionalcodes.org.uk,” Lewis added added.

So the next time you are shopping online, look for a box marked “promo code,” “online discount code,” or “voucher codes” in the checkout process, copy and paste the given code from promotionalcodes.org.uk into the box and your discount will be applied.

Vick23.Com: Standing Up For What Is Right

December 20, 2007 (Las Vegas, Nevada) – A website dedicated towards denouncing the 23-month sentence given to football star Michael Dwayne Vick has been put up and even provides the platform for selling t-shirts with sarcastically humorous sayings about the incarcerated celebrity’s dog fighting fiasco. A huge chunk of the derived sales will also even go to the National Pit Bull Rescue Center.

The Vick23 website (www.vick23.com) strongly condemns the seemingly light sentence given to Vick, who was found guilty of dog fighting. Such act is inhumane and is an act of cruelty to animals, which is why it is considered illegal in all 50 states of the United States of America, according to the people behind Vick23.com.

“He could outrun the beefy arms of a defensive lineman but he couldn’t escape the long arm of the law,” according to the people behind Vick23.com.

Although already sentenced by the US District Court Judge Henry Hudson, many of Vick’s supporters believe that the verdict given is unfair. The Falcons have suspended Vick at the moment, although still undecided as to the next step to be taken regarding the situation. The Atlanta chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) believes that just because the football star has made some wrong decisions, it should not have to cost him his career in the NFL. The NAACP also hopes to see Vick out of prison in 2009 so he can play in the league once more.

Because of this, the people behind Vick23.com want to clearly declare their condemnation by putting up the said website as well as by offering cotton t-shirts for sale online that banner bold statements such as “From Quarterback to Brokeback,” “Property of Federal Prison Athletic Department” and “Federal Prison Recreational Flag Football.” Anti-Vick advocates can buy the t-shirts, which are all 100% cotton, and can then begin sporting the very strong convictions including “23 Months? Not long enough!” and “Vick is Sick!”

Many people throughout the nation have insisted that this case is simply an issue of color. The Vick23.com team feels that dog fighting is immoral and wrong no matter how you put it, and that the issue is simply between what is right and what is wrong and not between black and white.

Aside from being a means of expression on such strong issues, the website is also an act of charity. Fifteen percent (15%) of all profits made from the sale of their t-shirts will be donated to the National Pit Bull Rescue Center (NPRC). The NPRC is an institution that specializes in collecting research and information on this particular breed of dog.

Although www.vick23.com is based in Las Vegas, Nevada, the vick23 team wishes to share their shirt designs all over the world. They wish to target not just the animal lovers, but the concerned citizens who are against dog fighting, as well.

Vick, consider a football star from the very beginning, excelled in the sport when he went to high school at the Newport News Public Schools. He continued to shine when he went to college at Virginia Tech. In 2001, Vick was the first to be picked in the National Football League (NFL) draft. In April 2007, it was discovered that Vick’s 15-acre property in Virginia was being used as a facility for the dog fighting ring “Band Newz Kennels,” which was being headed by Vick and three other men. On December 10, 2007, the Atlanta Falcons quarterback was sentenced to 23 months incarceration and three years of supervised probation due to him playing an active role in unlawful dog fighting. He is also set to face trial in April 2008 for related gambling activities. Presently, Vick is now serving time at the Northern Neck Regional Jail in Virginia.

ABOUT VICK23.COM

The Vick23.com website (www.vick23.com) is put up by animal-loving people who want to give back to charity and at the same time express their condemnation on the light 23-month sentence given to football star Michael Dwayne Vick. The people behind the website are based in Las Vegas, Nevada.
